Take a look at this ironically beautiful map which illustrates the territory controlled by seven of the largest burger chains in the USA compared to McDonald’s.
Men’s Health magazine have been searching the US to find the worst french fries in the country – in particular, the ones with the most calories, fat and salt content. The winner is Chili’s Texas Cheese Fries with Jalapeno Ranch, which contains a whipping 1,920 calories, 147 grams of fat (63 g saturated) and 3,580 mg of sodium. That’s a heart-attack on a plate.
The only thing that comes close to redeeming this cheesy mound of lard and grease is the fact that it’s ostensibly meant to be shared with a few friends. Even so, you’ll collectively be taking in an entire day’s worth of calories, three days’ allotment of saturated fat, and a day and a half’s allotment of sodium. What’s even scarier, if you can imagine, is that even if you try to order more sensibly and ask for the “half” order of Texas Cheese Fries, you’ll still receive a disastrous dish that packs in 1,400 calories. There’s one French fries side dish at Chili’s that’s acceptable, although even in its much-reduced form, you’d be better off splitting it.

A man posting as KFC’s Colonel Sanders tricked his way into the UN headquarters in New York to pose and have his photograph taken with a senior official.
The impersonator, who looks shockingly like the real Colonel, managed to avoid tight security to gain access to the restricted areas of the complex. He even got as far as shaking hands with Ali Treki, the president of the UN General Assembly, before the alarm was raised and he was ejected.
Quite unsurprisingly, Dr Treki denied that he held a meeting with the Colonel Sanders impersonator, claiming that he only shook his hand out of courtesy during the incident on Thursday.

As part of its campaign to promote its new menu range, KFC is “lobbying” the UN for the fictional Grilled Nation to be accepted as a member state.
The fast food giant has written to Mr Ki-moon personally asking for grilled chicken lovers to get a seat, in a letter dismissed by Mrs Montas as “absolutely void”.
The UK recession has led to a boom in McDonald’s sales as people opt for cheap fast food, rather than splashing out on more expensive meal. As a result, McDonald’s is to open two lane drive-through restaurants to help cope with the increasing demand.
Despite numerous government campaigns for health eating, McDonald’s had its best summer ever in the UK this year, serving 100 million customers a month.

Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s UK chief executive. told The Sun: “We simply don’t have the capacity to serve the number of customers as quickly as we want to”.
The fast food chain has responded by opening dual entrances so that two drivers can order their meals simultaneously. Menus are also being printed on kerbside signs
The new system is being tested at outlets in Telford, Shropshire, Kent and Edinburgh. If successful, the scheme will be extended to up to 50 McDonald’s restaurants across the country.
We all know that McDonald’s is a huge company, and it seems like you can’t go anywhere in the U.S. without seeing one.
Stephen Von Worley created this map of the U.S. illustrating where all the McDonald’s outlets are. The most depressing fact came from this though, is that you’ll have to go to South Dakota to get 107 miles away from one.Comments Off | Posted in: Business | Health
The world’s biggest burger has been unveiled, which weighs in at 185 pounds.
Whilst the bun, which takes 8 hours to make, is being prepared, the burger is baked for 15 hours before it is topped with cheese, lettuce and tomato and wheeled out into the restaurant on a trolley.
Mallie’s Sports Grill and Bar in Southgate, Michigan, USA, are selling the enormous meal for $499.
Restaurant owner Steve Mallie said: ”Being in the Guinness World Records book is the greatest accomplishment we’ve ever done.
”I’ve worked my entire life to build this restaurant and being able to have the notoriety of Guinness makes it just that bit more rewarding.”
Now it’s just a question of who’s going to eat it, and pay $499 for the privilege? And we wonder why we are one of the most obese nations on earth. I’ve got to say though, it does look good, doesn’t it? Any takers?3 Comments | Posted in: Health | Lifestyle
KFC’s Colonel Harland Sanders has met a lady competitor in China – Ji’a’po.
Ji’a’po is a fast food chain founded in 2007 which has about a hundred stores in China. Despite the striking similarities between the two logos, the State Administration for Industry & Commerce in China says that there is no infringement. Seems slightly odd to me…5 Comments | Posted in: Business
So, on July 22, I posted a great little illustration by Andrew Shirey of the fast food mafia. Well, since then it has been updated and there are new characters.
The new version features Jack in the Box, Papa John, Taco Bell, Panda Express, Quiznos, Subway, Sonics, and Dairy Queen as well as the original mafia. Check it out!

A great work of art illustrating a different side to iconic fast food characters.
Burger King has been forced to apologize to Hindus after it showed an Indian goddess with a “forbidden” Whopper Burger.
The advert had a picture of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, about to eat a beef burger, stating “The snack is sacred.”
The company withdrew it’s adverts from it’s outlets in Spain after Hindus complained that it was a disgrace to their religion and issued an apology after Hindu leaders condemned the posters.
“We are apologising because it wasn’t our intent to offend anyone,” said spokesperson Denise T Wilson. “Burger King Corporation values and respects all of its guests as well as the communities we serve. This in-store advertisement was running to support only a local promotion for three restaurants in Spain and was not intended to offend anyone.
“Out of respect for the Hindu community, the limited-time advertisement has been removed from the restaurants,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Burger King has offended sections of society however. Earlier this year, the fast food chain offended Mexican officials with an advert for the “Texican Whopper” showing a dwarf dressed as a wrestler draped in the Mexican flag.
This has certainly brought a lot of attention to the company. Do you think that the Hindu advert was a genuine mistake or was it a Burger King publicity stunt? You Decide.Comments Off | Posted in: Business | News
