iPhone apps are great. Like they say, “there’s an app for just about anything”. Well that’s very true, but sometimes application developers come up with some really stupid ideas. Here are 7 of the best pointless iPhone apps that we still love to download.
#1 – iSnort
Okay kids, this app is not cool but at least it’s better than doing the real thing. iSnort makes it appear that you are cutting up coke and snorting it. The makers say “Go on.. give it a toot… it’s virtually addictive”. Alternatively you could do something more useful and sensible with your £5, like throw it down the drain.5 Comments | Posted in: Sci/Tech
With the growing success of portable Apple devices, Sony is developing a lineup of handheld products, according to the Wall Street Journal, scheduled for release later this year.
Specifically, a smart phone will be released along with a separate device that combines a netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation Portable. This device is what Sony hope will compete against some of Apple’s latest products, such as the iPad.
Both the new smart phone and the multifunction device are expected to work with Sony’s new online media platform, due to launch later this month.
So, do you think Sony has what it takes to compete with the likes of Apple, or do you think all the hype will amount to nothing, with their launches being out-sold by rivals like so many of their recent products have been?Comments Off | Posted in: News

An Apple obsessed couple have become the first to get married inside an apple store.
Josh and Ting Li, from New York, tied the knot at 12.01 on Valentine’s Day, in the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. The ceremony was dominated with Apple products and references to the technology giant.
Their priest was dressed as Steve Jobs, they read their vows from iPhones, and the rings were tied to a ribbon wrapped around a first generation iPod.
Part of their vows included a passage from the Apple CEO that said: “You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down.”
Mrs Ling, dressed in a strapless wedding dress, had her vows written on a card that said “I love you more than this” followed by a picture of an iPhone.
Let’s not even get started on the honeymoon…Comments Off | Posted in: Entertainment | Lifestyle

German researchers have developed an iPhone application that allows motorists to drive a car using their mobile phone.
iDriver converts your iPhone into a real-life video game controller capable of steering and directing a vehicle, as well as controlling it’s acceleration and braking.
Take a look at it in action:
A fruit grower from Devon, England, has beaten odds of more than one million to one, in growing an apple which was split exactly half green, half red down the middle.

Horticulturists say the colourings on the apple are probably caused by a random genetic mutation. In such cases, the red side usually tastes sweeter than the green side – because it has seen more sunshine during its growth.
John Breach, chairman of the British Independent Fruit Growers Association, said: ‘I’ve never seen this happen before to a Golden Delicious. It is extremely rare. It is an extreme mutation.
‘There has been the occasional case of this type reported. If there was a whole branch of apples with the same colouring then fruit experts would get even more excited.’
These guys really are expert Apple Store thieves. They cleaned the place out in 31 seconds! The five men made off with 23 Macbook Pros, 14 iPhones, and 9 iPod Touches from the Marlton, New Jersey store. That’s an average of one item stolen per 0.67 seconds!Comments Off | Posted in: Business | News

Ninjawords, an iPhone dictionary application has been rejected by Apple as it included definitions for swear words.
Apple refused to approve the app unless the creators removed the “objectionable” words. Matchstick Software, the developers of Ninjawords complied with Apple’s requirements and removed the swear words. It is now available to download from the iTunes store, but only to users over 17 as Apple still deems it still unsuitable for younger audiences. Huh?
It’s nice to see Apple finally taking a stance on potentially offensive applications, however, compared to some of the apps they have approved, this one wears a halo.Comments Off | Posted in: Business | Entertainment
An iPhone application that promotes school shootings has been approved by Apple.
iPhone applications are available to download through the iTunes store or directly off the cellphone itself, however this isn’t the first time Apple has struck controversy over its application acceptance policy.
This Zombie School application lets users turn their classmates or teachers into zombies and then gives them the option of using a machine gun, bow or grenades to kill them. Surely Apple should have noticed that this was not in good taste…
This is not a joking matter and Apple should show some maturity and common sense here. What message does this send out to the millions of children who have access to this application? Sort yourself out Apple.3 Comments | Posted in: Business | News | Sci/Tech
A man is suing Apple because he claims that two of the company’s iPods enabled the Mafia to send him threatening messages.
Gregory McKenna, Florissant, Mo, says the iPods contained illegal receivers that allowed the Mafia to contact him.
McKenna purchased an iPod Shuffle from eBay in 2005 and discovered that the Mafia was able to send him audio threats through the device. McKenna also said an iPod Mini that he owned enabled the Mafia to generate death threats.
The lawsuit is claiming damages in the amount of $14.2 million.
Now eBay may not be the safest place in the world to buy goods, but having two iPods, both with Mafia receivers in them is quite a misfortune. It sounds like a nightmare…literally.2 Comments | Posted in: Business | News
