Happy Birthday Champagne!

Dom PerignonToday is the day, that is widely believed to be the birthday of champagne. On August 4th 1963, a Benedictine Monk named Dom Perignon is said to have invented what we know today as champagne.

Perignon was at the Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers in the region of Champagne, when he re-fermented a certain wine in the spring and then placed it in strong, sealed bottles so that the wine would become sparkling.

Why not have a glass or two to wish the old champers a happy birthday? Cheers!
