This is one remarkable antelope. He had the brains and courage to play dead to escape being eaten by a cheetah and a hyena. Just as the hyena is convinced that he’s caught his supper, he makes the mistake of turning his back on the antelope, and that’s when the antelope gets up and sprints off into the distance.Comments Off | Posted in: Internet
Visual Economics have put together this graph to show the value of currency in the United States, the value of different bills and their life expectancies. I was quite surprised to see that there are practically the same number of $20 bills floating around as there are $100 bills, and also the lack of $10 bills.Comments Off | Posted in: Business | News
Take a look at this failed robbery attempt from several camera angles. These guys met their match when they tried to rob this shop.
Despite the fact that the criminals had multiple sledgehammers, the man behind the counter only had one this on his mind. Flying chair and extinguish! Nice work.Comments Off | Posted in: Business
A piece of moon rock given to the Dutch prime minister by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, from the Apollo 11 mission has turned out to be fake.
The ‘lunar rock’, which is held at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. It had a value of over $500,000, however it is in fact petrified wood.

Xandra van Gelder, who oversaw the investigation, said the museum would continue to keep the stone as a curiosity.
“It’s a good story, with some questions that are still unanswered,” she said. “We can laugh about it.”
The rock was given to Willem Drees, a former Dutch leader, during a global tour by Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin following their moon mission 50 years ago. Nasa gave moon rocks to more than 100 countries following lunar missions in 1969 and the 1970s.
“Body Paint” by Mehmet Akten is an interactive installation and performance allowing users to paint on a virtual canvas with their body, interpreting gestures and dance into evolving compositions.
With the use of real-time infra-red cameras and custom software, motions are converted into drips and brush-strokes.
“The installation is designed to work with any number of people and is scalable to cover small or large areas. The interaction is very simple – movement creates paint. Hidden in the simplicity, are many layers of subtle details. Different aspects of the motion – size, speed, acceleration, curvature, distance all have an effect on the outcome – strokes, splashes, drips, spirals – and is left up to the users to play and discover.”Comments Off | Posted in: Sci/Tech

For the past few months there has been an abandoned Kentucky Fried Chicken in Palms, L.A. on the corner of Exposition Blvd. and Hughes Ave. Well, KFC are now open for business again in the same building, but it’s not the fast food KFC, it’s a drug dispensary called “Kind For Cures.”
“While they do sell things that are edible, you can’t buy them, or even ask about them, without a prescription.”
Now, in Southern California, a marijuana dispensary is no unusual thing, but this KFC one is. Unlike other dispensaries in the area, ‘Kind For Cures’ have kept the design of the previous tenants and the building remains practically the same as it was for the fast food restaurant that was there before it.
It was either a great marketing plan, or the owners were just too lazy to get off their backsides and do something. I’ll take a wild stab at the latter.

A French security adviser who was kidnapped by insurgents in Somalia, on July 14 2009, has escaped by killing three of his captors.
“We understand he killed three al-Shabaab guys who were guarding him. I cannot understand how this good story happened, but now he is in the hands of the government,” Abdiqadir Odweyne, a senior policeman, said.
An al-Shabaab source confirmed three of its members were killed, but said it was not known by whom: “Three of my friends died but who killed them is the question. We were expecting a ransom this morning,” the rebel source said.
Luckily the man is safe and is said to be in good health.Comments Off | Posted in: News | Politics

It was on this day in 2001 that internet explorer 6 was released to the world, and who knew the pain and suffering it would cause all web-masters and designers out there?
Despite numerous online campaigns for individuals, but especially companies to upgrade from ie6, including Mashable’s ie6 must die plea, that went viral on Twitter, the ‘ancient’ web browser still holds around a 15% share of the browser market.
You’ve had your fair share of browsing time now ie6, it’s time for you to curl up in your tartan blanket and let the compatible browsers out there show us the web.

I came across www.costofwar.com and was astonished by the rate of increase of the cost of the war.
You can redefine the cost for the entire U.S, per household, per person and per taxpayer as well as the cost for your state.
Watching those numbers going up is making me dizzy.
Check it out at www.costofwar.com.Comments Off | Posted in: News | Politics

“British scientists are close to a ‘potential cure’ for most breast cancer cases.
They have developed a way to stop tumours growing and spreading, which could save millions of lives every year.
Researchers say the new technique could be used to produce a drug to tackle the disease in as little as two years.
Scientists have previously focused on how to prevent tumours from forming, but the new research has found key molecules called microRNAs which the cancer manipulates to spread around the body.
Breast cancer cells ’switch off’ these molecules, allowing the cancer to spread unchecked to other parts of the body.
This spread is responsible for 90 per cent of deaths from breast cancer and the team which made the breakthrough is working on a drug to stop this fatal process.”
It’s nice to here some great news once in a while. I truly hope that its potential is realized and put into practice in the real world, to help save the lives of masses.Comments Off | Posted in: Health | Sci/Tech
You may think that skateboarding mainly involves your lower body, but not for Daniel Pelletier.
Daniel is paralyzed from the waist down, and has undergone 25 surgeries, however this hasn’t stopped him from realizing his passion – skateboarding.
This is Daniel’s sponsor video which he hopes to gain corporate sponsorship from. Now that he’s becoming an internet celebrity, I’m sure he’ll have the phones ringing all day long. Top man, Daniel!Comments Off | Posted in: Business | Health | Internet

“Great if you’re a bartender, the ElectraPour is ideal for dark conditions when people are watching expectantly for their next shot! Although it can take a matter of seconds to pour a shot out, it can seem like a lifetime if you’re the one wanting to swig it down, so the ElectraPour helps to provide a nice light show to keep everyone entertained in the meantime!
We can’t claim to know all the ins and outs of the science behind the ElectraPour, but when the liquid passes through the pourer it activates the interior red LED light. Unlike other light-up pourers which simply flash when you pour, the ElectraPour actually lights up the stream of liquor pouring out of the spout!”Comments Off | Posted in: Sci/Tech
Justin is a 28-year-old man who lives with his 73-year-old dad. Justin decided to set up a Twitter account @shitmydadsays, to write stuff that his dad says. The Twitter account has become so popular, it has over 100k followers in less than a month.
Here are some examples of the stuff that Justin’s dad says:
“Who is this woman?….Kate Beckinsale? Well, you can tell Kate Beckinsale she sucks.”
“Don’t touch the bacon, it’s not done yet. You let me handle the bacon, and i’ll let you handle..what ever it is you do. I guess nothing.”
“Your brother brought his baby over this morning. He told me it could stand. It couldn’t stand for shit. Just sat there. Big let down.”
“I didn’t live to be 73 years old so I could eat kale. Don’t fix me your breakfast and pretend you’re fixing mine.”
I officially LOVE Justin’s dad. Go check him out @shitmydadsays.Comments Off | Posted in: Entertainment | Internet
