It seems as if the perfume was like a drug for your colleague. As she got used to it, she needed more and more. You're right though. A subtle hint of fragrance is best imo. Finally I started walking out of the office when she walked in, and she confronted me. After telling her it was because of the perfume, she got very upset, and started asking others if it was too strong. Afterwards she apologized, saying she had gotten so used to it she just kept putting on more because she couldn't smell it. As is said, perfume should encourage others to get closer to smell it, not announce your entrance into the room....
