Strong Perfume Knocks Out 34

It was assumed that carbon monoxide or another toxic substance had entered the building when a large group of Texas call center workers started feeling sick and dizzy, however it turned out later that a particularly strong brand of perfume was to blame.

Mr Bean34 people from a Bank of America call centre in Fort Worth were taken to hospital in total, after suffering dizziness and shortness of breath, while another 100 were treated at the scene.

When fire crews examined the building, they found no signs of a gas leak or harmful substances, instead workers then realized they started feeling ill just after a colleague had sprayed perfume.

Now I know that some perfume can be unpleasant, but that’s just crazy! It reminds me of the Mr Bean sketch where he almost dies walking through the cosmetics section of a department store. Ever had a similar experience?

I had an office mate who came in every day in a stronger and stronger coating of Giorgios. Finally I started walking out of the office when she walked in, and she confronted me. After telling her it was because of the perfume, she got very upset, and started asking others if it was too strong. Afterwards she apologized, saying she had gotten so used to it she just kept putting on more because she couldn’t smell it.

As is said, perfume should encourage others to get closer to smell it, not announce your entrance into the room….

Wow, that’s sounds like quite an uncomfortable experience Donna. It seems as if the perfume was like a drug for your colleague. As she got used to it, she needed more and more.

You’re right though. A subtle hint of fragrance is best imo.
