It seems nowadays, everyone is tweeting their every move. Well how about this – Buckingham Palace has set up it’s very own Twitter account.

After several weeks of testing, @BritishMonarchy has gone live. A spokeswoman said that the Royal Family wanted to utilize the popularity of Twitter to spread information about royal engagements as well as what members of the family are doing.

One of the three people @BritishMonarchy is currently following is Andy Murray – most recently a semi-finalist at Wimbledon.

The Queen and the Prince of Wales have been informed about the Twitter account, however it’s a shame that the Royal Family will not be personally tweeting, although one must not complain.

This is great. The Queen on twitter! Well, officially. We are just about to discuss in our blog how weird it would be to imagine the Queen on twitter and how there are exceptions to the rule (the rule that social media is for everyone)… Looks like she isn’t one!

P.s. Would it be OK if we used that picture? We’ll link you up, of course.
