Latvia has been one of the hardest hit counties in the European Union as a result of the global credit crunch, with many people unable to get a loan…Well, now there’s a solution.
The Kontora loan company is offering clients loans in return for their souls. It grants loans of 50 to 500 Latvian lats ($100 to $1,000) to any adult after he or she signs the a very short agreement. The client must sign a contract with the words “Agreement” in bold letters at the top stating, “that is, my immortal soul.”
The company said it would not employ debt collectors to get its money back if people didn’t repay, stating “If they don’t give it back, what can you do? They won’t have a soul, that’s all”
In the current tough economic crisis, it may be necessary to sell some assets, but is the Kontora loan company playing God?

I hope you all had a great day yesterday, celebrating America’s independence…well those folks at Coney Island, NY certainly did.
The famous “Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest” took place yesterday, with the winner taking home $10,000. A close fought contest saw Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi coming in second place, having eaten 64 hot dogs, to new world record holder Joseph Christian “Jaws” Chestnut who stomached 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
Congratulations Joey. A truly inspiring performance!
